Being a security officer in a cultural institution is not an easy job. Imagine standing in the same location day after day – even in the best environment security officers can become bored. Just standing can get tiring.
CPPG has developed a unique program that will help reduce the motivational problems associated with working in this environment. Our parent company CSC is the premier provider of crowd management and security services for the sports and entertainment industries. Our commitment is first and foremost to our client museums, but if there are no overtime opportunities available for CPPG at your museum, then, with your support, we can offer our people a chance to work at another site like a stadium, arena or concert hall.
To an officer, there are real advantages to working a professional sports event, a college bowl game, or a concert by one of your favorite performers. This is something they find motivating and we use this to your advantage.
Further, CPPG sets up a reward program that keeps your security officers fresh and alert while reducing turnover. Good performance is rewarded with good assignments at sports and entertainment venues when practical. An excellent performance is rewarded with really great assignments.
A good officer might find him or herself invited to work at a professional sports event or concert while an excellent guard might work that one day at the 50 yard line of a football game or near the stage of a major concert.
An “Officer of the Year” who is selected as the very best among his or her peers might be invited to work a prime location at a bowl game—perhaps even the Super Bowl. If the officer is best motivated by work at a concert, he or she may be assigned to guard the dressing room of a major performer or group.
On the museum front, we open a motivational effort by asking people from different departments of the museum to talk to our officers in a way that helps them learn about the collection and the institution. It is easier to protect something you understand and appreciate and it is this added dimension of caring that distinguishes our security officers from the rest.
